Uni Modern Japanese Restaurant

We passed by this restaurant on our first day in Victoria and decided to look up the menu. We love Aburi Oshi sushi and it had an extensive selection so decided to try it out the next day. The staff are lovely and the atmosphere is great. I started with the Love Bomb cocktail which was amazing, so fresh and light. We ordered the Ebi Pesto Oshi (my favourite), Toro Oshi, Salmon Oshi, Beef Oshi and Hamachi Oshi. Everything was delicious, I never thought I’d have pesto with sushi but the combination was to die for. They also grind their own real wasabi in house, which I’d never tried before and was amazing. We ended our meal with the wonton soup which was so flavourful and a good size. Our lovely server then brought us a taste of their house Saki and I’ve never had better Saki in my life. Was amazing. Would definitely go back and try more.

Uni was exactly what this pregnant lady needed to help curb my sushi craving. While I sadly didn’t get to enjoy any of the fresh seafood, all the rolls I tried were amazing!! There truly wasn’t one dish I didn’t like. Whether you’re here for the fresh fish, pregnant or vegetarian, this place has something for everyone. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Items I tried during this visit: -Yam Roll (my favorite, highly recommend) -Veggie Roll (highly recommend) -Dynamite Roll (highly recommend) -Agedashi Tofu -Avo Mango Oshi -Oshinko maki -Shoyu-Ichiban Udon, made vegetarian Overall, it was a great restaurant! If I’m ever back in Victoria I’ll definitely be back to try the sashimi and other yummy options. Definitely stop by for great food and service!

First visit for us recommended by family, friendly staff, good food and we found 1hr free parking at the parkade. Got to enjoy their great lunch specials, a taste of everything, beautiful presentation, and good portions. Perfect if they had complimentary green tea.

This is the #1 Japanese restaurant I have experienced on the island. This is world class quality cuisine. The rolls are so vibrant, so unique. The flavors are complex. The won ton soup really accomplishes the deep flavors of unami and fungi. The restaurant is very Tokyo. The staff are very polite. Be sure to make reservation on popular nights!

It was not my first time dining here, but I often return for dishes that are rarely found in the area. The food was fresh and delicious, especially the uni sashimi. A special shout-out to our server, Andy, who was very friendly and ensured everything was perfect. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. My friends and I were delighted to receive complimentary tempura ice cream desserts, which added an extra special touch to our experience.

I’ve been searching for the best spot for Japanese cuisine, and this is it! Everything we ordered was good. The sushi is absolutely to die for—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
